Abstract

Higher Education Regulations stipulate that the obligations of every higher education institution as explained in the Tridharma of Higher Education are education, research and community service. The National Education System states that Higher Education is obligated to provide education, research and community service based on Article 20 paragraph 2 of Law no. 20 of 2003. Then Article 47 paragraph 1 of Law Number 12 of 2012 concerning Higher Education that "community service is defined as the activities of the Academic Community in practicing and cultivating Science and Technology to promote general welfare and educate the nation's life". For this reason, this dedication comes in the form of the concern of a Lecturer at the University of Quality Berastagi (UQB). On this occasion the Lecturers and Students of the Study Program. UQB Management Conducts Community Service (PkM) at PURREBRA. PURREBRA is a business engaged in agriculture, planting and selling vegetables, which is located at Jalan Jamin Ginting No. 177 Sempajaya Peceren Village, Berastagi District, Karo Regency. The problems faced by PURREBRA in marketing are still far from what was expected, carrying out the promotion only relying on banners in that place. Also, the knowledge of PURREBRA employees/workforce is still low in the use and utilization of Social Media such as Facebook, Instagram and others as a marketing tool to improve sales of self-picked vegetables at PURREBRA. Due to the problems faced by PURREBRA in marketing self-picked vegetables, community service activities were carried out by Lecturers and Students of Study Program. The UQB management that will be carried out is in the form of outreach and social media training for PURREBRA employees/workforce. In this training they were provided with how to promote vegetables through social media such as Facebook, Instagram and others. After attending the training, the employees/workforce at PURREBRA were very happy because they said their knowledge/experience had greatly increased using social media in terms of marketing/promoting/selling their products.
