Abstract

Azolla is able to bind nitrogen from the air because it is associated with cyanobacteria (Anabaena azollae) that live in the leaf cavities of Azolla. The ability of Azolla to fix nitrogen from the air ranges from 400-500 kg N/ha/year. Problems faced by the community, especially in the Setia Negara sub-district, Siantar Sitalasari District, Pematangsiantar City, there is still a lack of information about sources about azolla which can increase the fertility of lowland rice plants as a substitute for nitrogen needs. From the problems that arise, the community also wants the results of rice plants to be fertile and produce superior rice. This service activity is carried out to help the community of Setia Negara Village, Siantar Sitalasari District, Pematangsiantar City in farmers' problems to increase superior rice yields, so they can make their own way of fertilizing rice plants in the fields with the help of Azolla so that rice yields can increase and increase the rice economy.
